The CJ Brown Foundation (CJBF) is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with UCAN Chicago, a respected social services organization committed to supporting youth and families across the city. This summer, CJBF will launch free soccer programming at UCAN’s Chicago, expanding access to free soccer and character-building programs for young people on Chicago’s West Side.
The initiative is made possible through a generous grant from UCAN, reflecting a shared commitment to positive youth development, safe community spaces, and equity in sports. With this partnership, CJBF takes another step forward in its mission to use soccer for empowerment, employment, and character development opportunities.
While the summer programming schedule is yet to be announced, the Foundation is preparing an engaging, supportive environment for youth of all skill levels. The focus will remain consistent with CJBF’s core approach: combining technical soccer training with life skills, mentorship, and a sense of belonging.
“This partnership with UCAN is about more than just the game,”said CJBF founder CJ Brown. “It’s about showing up for kids in communities and leveraging all the game has to offer to create enjoyable experiences that are local and accessible. We’re excited to bring the energy and values of CJBF to North Lawndale this summer.”
CJBF encourages families, community members, and local organizations to follow CJBF’s social media channels and website for upcoming announcements about registration, schedules, and program specifics. As with all CJBF programs, participation will be free of charge, removing financial barriers and ensuring that every child has a chance to play and grow.

CJBF will kick off the summer months at UCAN Chicago with a free coaching workshop with their partner, Soccer Without Borders, on June 7th from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm. The workshop will focus on teambuilding to create discussion around building trust and belonging. It is the second coaching workshop this year for CJBF and Soccer Without Borders on Violence Prevention in Chicago. Previously, CJBF hosted SWB in Chatham on Chicago’s south side in late March.
